Is there any other Honda vehicle more prominent than the Honda Civic? While the brand has many popular models, this classic compact sedan holds a space near and dear to our hearts. With plenty of great technologies and a fuel-efficiency* that will get you where you need to go, the Civic is a great choice for first-car buyers and returning pros alike. So, how fuel-efficient* is this sedan, really? Let’s take a look!

How far can my 2020 Honda Civic LX go on a tank of gas?

While it’s important to remember that driving conditions and your own driving style will affect the model’s fuel efficiency, theoretically the 2020 Honda Civic Sedan can go just under 409 miles on one tank of gas when you drive the base LX trim. This fuel economy will vary depending on your driving style, road conditions, and what trim you actually choose for the Civic.

Here’s how we’ve figured this out:

The Civic has a 12.39-gallon fuel tank for the LX trim. It has an M-CVT transmission, and an EPA-Estimated fuel economy* of 30 miles per gallon in the city and 38 mpg on the highway, rounding it out to a combined mpg of 33 mpg*. So, 33 miles to the gallon with a 12.39-gallon tank gives you just under 409 mpg of driving range*. (408.87, to be exact).

The EX is actually a rather popular trim for the 2020 Honda Civic, so we’ll tell you a bit about its EPA-Estimated Fuel Economy*. Again, you’ll see the 12.39-gallon fuel tank. This time, it has a LL-CVT transmission, which will give you an EPA-estimated 32 mpg in the city and 42 mpg on the highway, with a combined 36 mpg*. Altogether, this gives you an estimated 446 miles to the gallon.* (446.04* if you really want to get specific).

Again, this will be impacted by your own driving style, how much you drive in the city/on the highway and driving conditions. We cannot stress this enough! If you are looking for a solid vehicle for lots of travelling, the Civic is a good choice, but if you’re planning on taking a long road trip in less populated states, it’s important to know where some of those gas stations are so you can fill up when you need to.
