2020 Honda CR-V Hybrid Release Date, Specs & Features
With vehicles like the Accord Hybrid and Insight, Honda is certainly establishing itself as a force within the hybrid marketplace. Now the brand is expanding its lineup of hybrid vehicles once again as it has introduced its very first hybrid crossover, the 2020 Honda CR-V Hybrid. We’re so excited that the company is turning this vehicle – which has already been recognized for its green nature – into a hybrid-electric model. Although a precise release date has yet to be confirmed, we expect it to arrive sometime in the first half of this year. Let’s take a look at some of its early specs & features to get you as excited for its arrival as we are.
Powertrain & More
At this point, it’s too early to know what exactly the fuel economy ratings will be for the CR-V Hybrid, but Honda has stated it will substantially improve efficiency over its non-hybrid counterpart, perhaps delivering as much as a 50-percent increase. The CR-V Hybrid will be powered by the same two-motor powertrain as the Accord Hybrid, which pairs two electric motors with the company’s 2.0L 4-cylinder engine. Despite its improved fuel efficiency, the system actually increases horsepower to 212 HP from 190 HP.
The CR-V Hybrid will also feature an all-wheel drive system, marking the first time Honda has done this with its two-motor hybrid powertrain. The CR-V Hybrid will also feature several unique design cues and added features. For instance, its higher-tier trim levels will feature distinct bar-style fog lights that include five LEDs in contrast to the non-hybrid CR-V models’ round fog lights. We’ll be sure to highlight even more details on the CR-V Hybrid as they become available, so be sure to check back on the Hilton Head Honda blog often!
