While its original run was from 1998 to 2006, the Honda HR-V we know and love today made its debut back in 2013. The second-generation model was a lot different than its predecessor, and it has been a big contributor to the rapid growth of the subcompact crossover segment, both in terms of number of entries as well as popularity. Now the 2021 Honda HR-V is available near Savannah GA, continuing to build its reputation and legacy in the segment.
With an all-new, next-generation Honda HR-V on the horizon for next year, the automaker didn’t make many changes in the HR-V for the 2021 model year. That’s not to say there were no updates, as the Sport trim levels added a privacy glass feature and the Sport, EX and EX-L trims all received all-new wheel designs for 2021.
Speaking of trim levels, in total the HR-V offers four grades for 2021. The three aforementioned trims are joined by the entry-level LX grade, each of which is available as an all-wheel drive variant as well. AWD models achieve 28 miles per gallon combined fuel efficiency, while the standard models achieve 30 mpg – the only difference being the LX AWD, which achieves 29 mpg*.
Those fuel economy ratings are earned by the HR-V crossover’s 1.8L 4-cylinder engine, which is standard across the board. It’s capable of generating 141 horsepower alongside 127 pound-feet of torque, which is more than enough power to deliver an enjoyable experience on the road within its lightweight frame.
