Compact SUVs are one of the most popular vehicle segments on the road today, and every major manufacturer has options for this class of car. Some are newer to the game than others, however. Take Honda and Toyota, for example. Both manufacturers have been producing their popular compact SUV options, the CR-V and RAV4, respectively, since the mid-1990s. That kind of success says a lot, but how can you possibly choose between the 2019 Honda CR-V vs the 2019 Toyota RAV4.
We understand it may not be an easy choice, but we’re here to help you decide by comparing the models side-by-side. We’ve compared the 2018 versions of these models, but the RAV4 recently underwent quite a few changes, so we are once again matching up the entry level trims for each model.

2019 Toyota RAV4 LE FWD |
---|---|---|
Starting at $24,350* | MSRP | Starting at $25,500 |
106 cubic feet | Passenger Volume | 99 cubic feet |
Up to 75.8 cubic feet | Cargo Volume | Up to 69.8 cubic feet |
2-speed CVT | Transmission | 8-speed automatic |
There is a lot left up to opinion when it comes to these vehicles, with design being a significant dividing point. We’ll let you form your own opinions there and instead focus on the data, like starting MSRP. The 2019 Honda CR-V LX FWD has a starting MSRP over $1,000 less than the entry level 2019 RAV4, at $24,350.* Even so, the CR-V comes standard with some features the RAV4 doesn’t, such as carpeted front/rear floor mats, an automatic air conditioning system, driver’s 1-touch window button, a headlight washer and more.
Perhaps the biggest selling point for the CR-V in this comparison, however, is just how spacious it is. With 106 cubic feet of passenger space, the CR-V knocks the RAV4 out of the water. You may suspect that the RAV4 makes up for this with more cargo space, but it disappoints in that area too with under 70 cubic feet.
We can’t compare every aspect between the 2019 Honda CR-V vs 2019 Toyota RAV4 here, but as you can see, when it comes to value and spaciousness, the CR-V is a real winner. To learn more or get behind the wheel, contact us at Hilton Head Honda in Bluffton, SC.
